Ola again peeps,

Have you ever receive short message system (SMS) mentioned that you won something? Normally from the company you familiar with? How they know you always shop or use the particular brands, do they (cyber crimer) make their own research? They have a
multi-million technology that can detect anyone transaction anywhere? Maybe some of you thinking when you always use membership card to collect point from a well known petrol company or they can detect from your online purchases? How they get you phone number?

1001 questtion will pop up for the one who really take cyber crime seriously but the rest just ignore by deleting that SMS, hmmm the other quarter will reply the said reply with sarcastic message and another quarter will report this to authority.

But what about people who "lurus bendul" and believe that they won an amount of money, because their approach enough to convince some of the victims. After hundred of cases reported from media, a few not so effective campaign from authority and been surrounded by family and fried who had an experience before. They will easily fall into this scam because it's just depend on individual effort to gain information regarding cyber crime or they have to learn it in the hard way. Million of ringgit yearly reported being loss due to cyber crime.

Cyber-crimeen compasses any criminal act dealing
with computers and networks (called hacking). Additionally, cyber crime also includes traditional crimes conducted through the Internet. For example; hate crimes, telemarketing and Internet fraud, identity theft, and credit card account thefts are considered to be cyber crimes when the illegal activities are committed through the use of a computer and the Internet.(www.webopedia.com)

There are a lot of ways for them to find information about us, through credit/debit card transaction, online shopping, social medias, telecommunication account, etc....and don't be surprised if the hacking or leaking of information normally the "Modas oprandi" comes from within the organisation itself (Internal staff) .

I've been working with one of the financial institution and easily I can say....you can take out a bunch of customers information without being traced. For an example on a daily, weekly or monthly report update it is easily accessible by any employees who work there and the information can be copied and be sold as leads for any businesses in their attempt of their marketing strategies to reach potential customer.  But on the other hand, it can also be used as reliable information for fraudsters to plan out their crime.

Though IT regulates checking and advocates all employees to comply with all IT regulations in the company, will this still be reliable and guarantees the info will not be leak? If the information has been leaked what actions can be taken for such crime? At most perhaps the organisation can terminate the employment but it will not go further than that with this kind of reputation, it will definitely tarnish the trust and reputation of the organisation itself. Therefore, at most if it doesn't involve monetary losses this type of cases will be settled outside the courthouse.

Who is actually the victim here? We are. Why? The ones who receives the unexpected calls from wanders telesales/telemarketing who will be calling us to sell their products.
Receiving online phishing emails from the unknown source. How do we stop this? Who will compensate of the invasion of privacy. No one! We can’t!

Once our name and details has been leak out, all this information will be stored in a database. Who's database? either the fraudsters database or companies who runs business relying on customers information.

In fact, the information that we share on our social media network are also one of the biggest and latest collection of reliable information database that will be stored for businesses as this is the new trend of internet business approach to no boundaries.

Therefore, I urge everyone "the internet users", BE SMART, ACT SMART! we can stop this crime by being alert with what we read in the net.
I always believe the easiest way is ton start with any types of any online websites and with any transactions that we deal with on our daily or monthly routine.
